In addition, the delegation will visit the Monsanto Research Facility and Novus International, Inc. Mr. Jim Lawrence, Acting Director of the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement of the U.S. Department of State will also be participating in this program. He will be discussing the State Department’s public-private mine action partnerships and HDI’s innovative and holistic approach to agricultural development and mine action. Mr. Ralph Cwerman, President of HDI, said, “We are pleased to bring U.N. Ambassadors to the heart of the Midwest. This trip will allow them to see the vibrancy of life in the United States outside of New York City. We are also pleased that Mr. Jim Lawrence will be participating in this program. HDI is one of the original partners of the U.S. State Department’s Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement dating back over ten years. With the support of this office and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, HDI has increased its presence around the world, clearing millions of square meters of mine-contaminated land and helping and feeding hundreds of thousands of people.” For a detailed schedule or to arrange interviews with any of the participants, please contact HDI Program Manager Alma Manzo at 212-944-7111, or by e-mail at alma.manzo@thehdi.org.
