Monthly Communiqué from Laos

April 2008

The Humpty Dumpty Institute is pleased to announce the following achievements from its Food for Education project in Laos for the month of April.

 

  • 108 of 110 schools in Bualapha, Gnommalath and Mahaxay districts reported that all students attended at least 80% of classes.

 

  • 153,539 nutritional snacks served (1,230,690 snacks served to date).

 

  • 5,781 take home rations provided (3,041 to girls, and 2,745 to boys).

 

  • 16 school improvement projects completed this month, 52 completed to date (23 latrines, one structural renovation, four new classrooms and 23 school floors, and one gravity-fed water system extension).

 

  • International Relief and Development distributed 2,964 school kits and quilts to kids in 21 schools.

 

  • 69,327 m² of land cleared of UXO.

 

  • 100 UXO destroyed.
