HDI Spokesperson Mary Wilson to Give Concert in Hanoi, Viet Nam, October 30th, 2008

October 10, 2008

NEW YORK, NY - The Humpty Dumpty Institute is pleased to announce that its Spokesperson, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, will give a concert in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 30, 2008. Proceeds from the concert will benefit “Mushrooms with a Mission”. Together with Project RENEW, a Vietnam-based NGO sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), HDI has created “Mushrooms with a Mission” to help raise the incomes of UXO survivors in Quang Tri Province by enabling them to become mushroom farmers. The project will provide UXO survivors with the tools and equipment needed to grow mushrooms and will guarantee to buy all the mushrooms that the participating farmers can grow. The concert will be presented at the Hanoi Youth Theater, 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street, at 8:00 p.m. on October 30, 2008. We are extremely pleased that the concert will be cosponsored by the United States Embassy in Vietnam. We wish to thank EVA Airlines and the Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel for providing transportation and accommodations for Miss Wilson and her band.

Beginning November 1, 2008 Miss Wilson will accompany members of the Board of Directors of the Humpty Dumpty Institute to Laos to inspect HDI’s unexploded ordnance (UXO) removal project funded by a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture. Ralph L. Cwerman, President of the Humpty Dumpty Institute, said the concert wills not only benefit victims of landmines and UXO, but also that “Mary Wilson’s participation in this joint Project RENEW/HDI program will help raise international awareness of the continued scourge of landmines and unexploded ordinance”.
