HDI Brings Delegation of U.N. Ambassadors to Minneapolis, Minnesota

On April 9-10, 2007, The Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI) sponsored a special "U.N. Across America" program. The U.N. ambassadors of Vietnam and Sri Lanka, the ambassador of Laos to the U.S.A., as well the Chargé of the Permanent Mission of Laos to the U.N. traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota. On Monday, April 9, Augsburg College, a premiere institution of higher learning in Minneapolis, hosted a dinner bringing together over 50 leaders of the city's political, business, academic, and civic communities. The former director of the World Food Program, James Morris, gave the keynote address.

On Tuesday, April 10, HDI organized a panel with U.S. Congresswoman Betty McCollum at the Humphrey Institute of the University of Minnesota on mine-action programs with a specific emphasis on Southeast Asia. Senior officials from the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and leading mine action and food security NGOs attended. The panel was followed by a lunch and roundtable hosted by the president of the university.
