U.S.-U.N. Relations
The Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI) enhances the U.S.-U.N. relationship through a number of innovative programs aimed at education and information-sharing. HDI is the only organization in the United States that regularly brings Members of Congress and senior staff to the U.N. Headquarters for private, off-the-record briefings on critical U.S. - U.N. issues. Utilizing our extensive network, and in the belief that information sharing always leads to better policy, HDI offers the following programs to U.S. and U.N. decision makers:
Congressional Delegations to the U.N. Headquarters
Our flagship program brings U.S. Representatives and Senators and their senior staff members to U.N. Headquarters for private, off-the-record briefings with senior U.N. Secretariat officials and U.N. diplomats. Over 300 Congressional offices have participated in HDI Delegations since the programs' inception.
U.N. Across America
HDI's newest program takes members of the U.N. diplomatic corps to cities across the nation to meet with Americans from all walks of life. In particular, the program concentrates on cities outside the Northeast corridor. To date, over 50 U.N. diplomats have visited over 10 American cities and have met with municipal and state level policy makers throughout the United States. HDI has sent delegations to New Orleans, Detroit, Miami, Phoenix, Portland (Oregon), Jackson Hole, Boston, Portland (Maine), and Houston, among others.
U.N. to D.C.
HDI also reverses the traffic and organizes special closed door, off-the-record briefings by senior U.N. officials to congressional staff members on Capitol Hill.
